Nicole,
I had the pleasure of meeting you at a book signing at Books a Million
in Murrells Inlet. We spoke briefly about your attending a book club
meeting. The women in the club were thrilled to learn that you would
be willing to attend our meeting. We have chosen The Spirit of Sweet
Grass as our next selection. We will meet in June to discuss the book.If
you are willing to attend our meeting. I would love to discuss it with
you.We will make the cornbread!(per your request).
It was a pleasure meeting you.I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Donna Macfie

Dear
Nicole:
The Spirit
of Sweetgrass was such a delightful, thought-invoking story. I lost
my husband to cancer in September, 2006. As you can imagine, I yearned
for my Jerry to contact me as Daddy Jim did Essie Mae. Since we had
visited Charleston and experienced the basket ladies in the market (Essie
Mae is right, they are not all as friendly as she.), many memories were
brought to the surface such as that narrow bridge and blue ceilings
on the porches of the houses on the Battery. Your imagination is a joy
and right-on with human emotion. Thank you for sharing!

Nicole,
I met you on the art walk and purchased your book. I finished it Sunday
night! It made me laugh and cry, so I know it made its mark. I could
not put it down! I love the way you address contemporary issues through
local culure and tradition.
