"Nicole
is a remarkable writing talent who has the potential to
be a fresh new voice in fiction."
~ Mark Gilroy, Thomas Nelson, Inc. Vice President/Publisher
Nicole
Seitz grew up on Hilton Head Island, a small town off the
coast of South Carolina, where she was surrounded by palmetto
trees, marsh grass, sandy beaches and unique Southern characters.
As an author and artist, Nicole's work is deeply influenced
by the mystique and charm of the Lowcountry.
In 1989, Nicole's eyes were opened to the vast world
around her when she served as one of many student ambassadors to
the Soviet Union through the People to People Organization. It was
the summer of Gorbachev and Perestroika and great internal unrest
in the USSR--the wall of communism was yet to fall. Nicole returned
home to speak to local organizations about her experiences, touched
by the endearing people she met there and forever changed with an
new appreciation and love for her home in the Lowcountry.
The next year, Nicole left for the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a B.A. in Journalism
and Mass Communications. After graduating, she returned home to
a little town called Bluffton on the mainland of Hilton Head and
commuted a short drive into Georgia where she received a B.F.A.
in Illustration from Savannah College of Art & Design. In 1996,
Nicole moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where she now lives
with her husband, Brian, and their two children, Olivia and Coulter.
As a freelance writer for newspapers and
magazines since 1994, Nicole's articles have been in The
Island Packet and The Bluffton Packet.
Her most recent feature, “The
Family Treasure,” was published in the October
2006 issue of SouthCarolina Magazine. Nicole formed
a graphic/web design firm in 2002 and has helped many Charleston-area
businesses create a professional brand and Internet presence.
Nicole's illustrations have been seen in publications including
House Calls and Charleston Magazine, and
her Lowcountry paintings have been exhibited in Charleston-area
galleries. Her first novel, The Spirit of Sweetgrass,
featured her painting, "Wade in the Water", on the
cover.
Nicole began writing fiction when she was 30-years-old
and expecting her first child, Olivia. Her love for novel-writing
has only intensified since then. An artist at heart, Nicole enjoys
painting pictures with words and bringing her characters to life
through detail and dialect. She is a member of American Christian
Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America. Nicole revels in
the creative process and looks forward to a long-term career as
a novelist. Today, she is working on her next book. |
